I recently attended a wine class on Pinot Noir and learned what exactly was infusing my beloved wines with that rich oak flavor. The answer: NEW oak wine barrels.
Rarely are wine barrels re-used more than a few seasons. The reason: the wood barrel contributes much to the wine’s aged taste. So since they’re so many cast-off barrels, I new there would be a plethora of recycled wine barrel products. After a quick look, here’s what I found (if you know of other products, please post a comment!):
Half-Barrel Book Case from Amazon, $280.00
Wine Barrel Side Table from Uncommon Goods, $380.00
Stemware Holder from Amazon, $60.00
Full Bodied Cabinet from Uncommon Goods, $900.00
And my favorite, Recylced Wine Barrel Chair from Radient Ideas, $160.00 (pictured)

I know of other recycled wine barrel products the ones I make :-) see at http://winewood.wordpress.com/products/
