xmas, Christmas treeThe holidays are over. :(

But remember you can recycle your Christmas tree – for paper, mulch, etc.

Here are some resources:

Earth911′s Recycling Center Finder

National Christmas Tree Assoc.

San Diego Christmas Tree Recycling

Colorado Christmas Tree Recycling

Georgia Christmas Tree Recycling

A very comprehensive page about recycling areas all over the country

(please excuse the very fuzzy photo of my tree…)

Need a couple great eco-friendly pieces to fill your living space? Vivavi is your store! I often go to Vivavi’s website hoping to find a nice gift, but they’re furniture options are a bit above my price range – although there are so many beautiful pieces! I’m secretly making my “new home wishlist” from Vivavi’s site.

I hope to soon pick up Josh Drofman’s book, The Lazy Environmentalist. Drofman is also coming out with a sequel that focuses on environmentalism on a budget.

He seems to be quite the Jack of All Trades by also having a weekly radio show on Sirius! Be sure to check out the video below and Vivavi’s store.

I recently attended a wine class on Pinot Noir and learned what exactly was infusing my beloved wines with that rich oak flavor. The answer: NEW oak wine barrels.

Rarely are wine barrels re-used more than a few seasons. The reason: the wood barrel contributes much to the wine’s aged taste. So since they’re so many cast-off barrels, I new there would be a plethora of recycled wine barrel products. After a quick look, here’s what I found (if you know of other products, please post a comment!):

wine_barrel_chair_300Half-Barrel Book Case from Amazon, $280.00

Wine Barrel Side Table from Uncommon Goods, $380.00

Stemware Holder from Amazon, $60.00

Full Bodied Cabinet from Uncommon Goods, $900.00

And my favorite, Recylced Wine Barrel Chair from Radient Ideas, $160.00 (pictured)

Ray Anderson of Interface Carpet Company. I love this guy! He seems like a traditionalist who had an epiphany one day and affected vast change within his company; change that is still going strong.

(The Sundance Channel has more of this vignettes that focus on businesses progressing on green initiatives)
